Rebecca S. Thompson embarked on her legal career in 1994, joining the firm of Smith, Phillips, Mitchell, Scott & Nowak, LLP in Hernando. Specializing in residential and commercial real estate closings, estate planning, and probate law, Rebecca has a broad range of expertise. Her experience includes guiding intricate commercial transactions for hotels and apartment complexes from construction to permanent financing, as well as overseeing numerous residential closings and refinances throughout her career. Rebecca is also highly regarded for her skill in probate law, in drafting wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
Educated at the University of Mississippi, Rebecca earned her undergraduate degree in 1986 followed by her law degree in 1992. Her dedication extends beyond the courtroom; married to Kenneth Thompson for 32 years, they are blessed with four adult children—Brittany, Chelsea, Emily, and John—and a growing family that includes three sons-in-law, a soon-to-be daughter-in-law, and four cherished grandchildren.
Outside her legal practice and church duties, Rebecca serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Historic DeSoto Foundation and DeSoto County Museum, reinforcing her deep-rooted ties to preserving local history and heritage. Her leadership in these roles underscores a passion for community stewardship and cultural preservation, reflecting a lifetime commitment to enriching the lives of those around her through both professional and civic endeavors.
